Yeerongpilly Residence
From the very first time MAKEROOM studio visited this grand Yerrongpilly lady she charmed, with her high ceilings, rhythmic picture rails, window lead-lighting and diffused warm light.
Our carefully considered colour palette of moody green/grey's, references both landscape + local waterways and ensures the grand heritage details of the home are respected, but not gilded, resulting in a warm an inviting home. We worked hard with lighter tones to maximise natural light in deep internal spaces.
French doors to living, working and bathing spaces open onto the central courtyard under the canopy of an age-old magnolia.
Bathing spaces in particular, were re-planned into zones that layer privacy to ensure celebrated rituals like bathing can become an indoor/outdoor experience, while the wc is tucked away behind a nib wall. The ensuite now makes supreme use of built in verandah spaces and flows on through the walk in robe to the master bedroom, with the design of the floating vanity mirror allowing brass-latched existing casements to be opened to the breeze.
A nod to the industrial history of the area informed the red brick and black steel Alfresco room that wraps the eastern end of the courtyard.
